Corona Comes To Visit Schools Before They Are Thrown Open!

Srinagar: Panic gripped a Govt. school in Srinagar when a teacher got to know that whole of her family has tested Covid positive. In the meanwhile at least seven staff members of a private school tested positive less than a week before the school is scheduled to re-open on March 8.

Dr Rubeena, Zonal Medial Officer Zadibal, who has monitored the test drive at a private school, told local newspaper Kashmir Reader that seven staff members have tested positive and have been asked to go into home isolation. They were part of the 170 rapid tests done so far. Another round of tests is still on at the school, which will be complete in the coming days. It is reported that the principal of the school had tested positive and then another teacher had caught infection from his boss.

The news has worried parents of the around 1200 students of the school. Since the schools have already asked parents to give in writing, that in case any child catches infection school shall not be held responsible, parents are very apprehensive.

In the meanwhile, sources said, panic gripped a Govt. school in Karan Nagar area when a teacher got to know that whole of her family back home has tested positive. The sources added that a number of Govt. schools have been clubbed and are being run in famous national school in Karan Nagar area. “On Tuesday a teacher came to know that her family members have been tested positive. Since she had mingled children and colleagues, panic gripped the school and all became apprehensive” a source said.

Interesting is the news that in Haryana, 57 cases have emerged from a single hostel of a school in the Karnal district of the state. Three tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday, while the rest 54 tested positive on Tuesday. Following the mass Covid-19 infection, classes and other academic activities have been suspended while the school has been declared as a containment zone, Karnal Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav said.

Jammu and Kashmir administration threw open the schools from 9th to 12 class resumed from 1st March almost after a year they were shut because of pandemic. Lower classes are scheduled from 8th March. Children are happy to be back to schools after a long time however Parents are asking about the safety of their children once they start attending schools.
