Srinagar: Despite a clear Govt. order, banning the extension\nin services or re-employment of retired employees, Jammu and Kashmir power\ndevelopment corporation (JKPDC) is trying to give extension to the services of\nan engineer a few days before he is due to retire on superannuation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cpersonally I don\u2019t think it (getting an extension in the service) is possible nowadays\u201d. <\/p>Naresh Kumar<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
Considered to be an \u201cinfluential man\u201d a \u201cconditional\u201d\ngeneral manager (executive engineer) is due to retire on superannuation on 28th\nof current month. However the officer is trying hard to get an extension in his\nservice and he is about to succeed. Sources say that a request for extension of\nhis services or re-employment has passed through many desks and has finally\nreached the table of advisor Baseer Khan for approval. \u201cthe recommendation is\nso strong that even advisor Khan has no alternative but to sign the file, it is\nalmost confirmed that the orders (of extension\/re-employment) will come before\nhis retirement order is issued\u201d, the sources added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Anil Kumar Sharma, a diploma holder, is working,\n\u201cconditionally\u201d as executive engineer (General Manager) in JKPDC and is\nretiring on 28th February 2021. However the officer is trying hard to get an\nextention in his service and he is about to succeed. \u201cHe being an influential\nman managed to get a case built by the corporation itself, a strong request has\nbeen sent to the Govt. and it is likely that advisor Baseer Khan signs the file\nbefore Sharma\u2019s superannuation and he is retained\u201d said a source.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A diploma holder in civil engineering, Anil Kumar Sharma is basically an Asstt. Executive Engineer (AEE) of erstwhile state\u2019s Power Development Department (PDD). \u201cBeing close to the then Power Minister Sharma managed to get himself deputed, temporarily, to JKPDC as executive engineer\u201d a source said. However his posting as executive engineer was \u201cconditional\u201d as is clearly mentioned in the order, No 10 PDD of 2015 Dated 25-06-2015, that on his transfer back to the parent department the said officer will have to work as AEE. He never returned and continued to work on a higher post, though on his own pay and grade with charge allowances. \u201cNow that he reached superannuation, he doesn\u2019t want to leave the corporation nor do his unknown mentors want to see him retire\u201d a source said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
JKPDCL has written to the Govt. that the officer is handling some important projects which are in their crucial stages so he should not be retired. However an officer of the corporation said \u201cdoes that mean he will never retire? And does that mean there is none other than him in the corporation to handle it?\u201d He said that there are many capable officers, some, much senior to Mr. Sharma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is important to mention here that erstwhile state banned\ngiving extension in the services of Officials or re-employing them after\nretirement. An order was passed in the cabinet meeting in 2013 and then in 2015\nGovt. not only repeated the instruction but relieved all those who were given\nthe benefit even after 2013.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Managing Director of JKPDC didn\u2019t answer repeated calls from\nTafseelat.
